Apr. 15th, 2012 02:40 pmBack to the grind again tomorrow. I won't say I was disappointed with this vacation, because not going to work for a week was good, but I wish I'd been able to relax before Wednesday. Ah well, come August I'll have two weeks off. All I have to do is get there from here...
BUT, this week I read four books, and finally got the bag of old sheets out of my bedroom, and had a pretty good cheeseburger by pure chance (I wanted to get out of the rain and ducked into the UBurger downtown), and spent an afternoon buying a suit to go sing in, and provided lap space for various cats at various times, and made some pretty good vegetable soup, and won a game of Civ 4, and generally didn't go to work for a week. (I did go into my work email once a day, just to clean out the "using the color printer for the next ten minutes"-type emails, which annoy me when I get back and find a week's worth of them all at once.)
I also met some Soay sheep in my parents' neighbors' back yard at Easter. There were three sheep when I met them, but they were all pregnant, and now there are three sheep and three lambs. (One had a single lamb, one had twins and one is still pregnant.) Apparently the lambs are better entertainment than television.
It being summer all of a sudden, I opened a lot of windows. I forget every winter that the windows keep a lot of sound out in addition to keeping the cold air out. It sounds like there's a huge flock of sparrows in my bedroom, but they're actually next door in Mario's peach tree.
