Talk about things running in families: my mother was in her first-ever fenderbender last Wednesday. She allowed as how she waited until she was 65 to do it, but she doesn't feel she has to do it again either. Everybody is fine and at least she was in her own car (well, truck), so it's not quite as much of an insurance boondoggle as mine was.

Also running in families: providing us with new family members. My cousin in Canada had her second son (Samuel Dominic) on Nov 22, having gotten Canadian Thanksgiving out of the way earlier in November, and her sister is having a second child (not sure which kind yet) in May.

Memo to self: if available and not hugely more expensive than regular ticket, look into business class train ticket both ways next time. I ended up with a business class seat on the way down to Noank on Wednesday, and it was quite pleasant and only $18 more than a coach seat.

I don't want to go back to being a responsible adult tomorrow. I sort of went back to it today, by way of paying bills, but that's different somehow. Probably because I wasn't trying to fit it in around the edges of all the other responsible adult things I have to do during the week.

I don't know why I always forget that when it comes to be the season for shoes with laces, I have to remind Snip whose shoelaces we've got here. I guess I keep hoping she'll forget about her shoelace obsession. (Shoelace season also being sweatshirt season, we tend to have the same conversation about sweatshirt hood cords at least once.) I even bought Snip her very own shoelaces to be obsessed with, but apparently they're less fun if they're not being used for their intended purpose. They're definitely less fun if they don't have aglets she can try to chew off. Silly beast. (Although, taken in the spirit of this picture, I think Snip would look smashing in two pairs of high-top red Converse, so I must also be a silly beast.)
