dchenes: (katana)
Apparently I had some sort of 24-hour grue yesterday. I went to bed at 7:30 last night and woke up when the thunderstorm started at 5:00ish this morning feeling considerably better. Today I was actually enthusiastic about the idea of breakfast, too. I probably should have stayed home yesterday. I considered it, but since my boss was out all last week and I had things I needed to ask her, it wouldn't have been a good idea.

I enjoyed the thunderstorm; the Hairy Beasts of course did not. But Snip decided she could stay on the bed as long as she could bury her head in my ankle, so that's what she did. Lily headed for the bomb shelter somewhere, but came back when the storm was over (which was before the alarm went off, besides). I'm not sure whether that's progress on Snip's part; I guess we'll find out the next time there's a thunderstorm. It was nice of it to be over by the time I had to get in the shower, though. It's probably an urban legend and doesn't matter as long as your house is grounded properly, but I try not to be in the shower during a thunderstorm.

I made wontons on Sunday, but left them sitting in liquid for too long and they fell apart. Oops. Fortunately the recipe I used made so many wontons that half of them went in the freezer, so I can try making soup again eventually. I'm not positive the whole experience was worth it, because you have to mince all the filling ingredients and that takes forever if you don't have a mincing machine of some sort. I can't say "if I had storage space" about kitchen appliances any more, but I can (unfortunately) still say "if I had enough outlets". Fairly high on the if-I-owned-the-place list is "have it rewired". Which of course means "replace plaster with sheetrock". Which runs into money. Oh well. It's a theoretical list anyway, since I don't own the place (yet; that's the plan for someday, though). I guess I'd better start buying Powerball tickets.

Speaking of buying things, I really should decide if I'm buying train tickets for Portland while I'm on vacation. I can't quite decide whether it's going to be Portland or Providence or both, though. Could be both, since the only thing I know about Providence is where it is.
