dchenes: (katana)
It appears to have decided to rain today. Which is good, because it hasn't lately. And it's very nice that it seems to be raining pretty much straight down, so an umbrella is a useful implement. That said, however, it's damp and depressing, and the humidity is causing my neighbors' air conditioners to run all night. I kept waking up thinking the heat had come on, and then realizing that no, the whooshing noise is coming in through the window. I suppose at least the air conditioners drowned out the baby (Mario's house has a very young baby staying there at the moment and it starts crying every morning 20 minutes before my alarm goes off). And yes, I know I could shut the bedroom windows and then I wouldn't hear all that stuff, but I don't want to shut the windows.

Yesterday was one of those days when nothing went catastrophically wrong, but nothing really went right either. The glee club rehearsal that was scheduled for last night got rescheduled for tonight but half an hour late, and then got re-rescheduled for last night at the usual time, and by the end of that I had lost track of whether yesterday was Tuesday or Wednesday. At the same time as that was going on, I was supposed to have lunch with a friend, but lunch at 12:30 turned into lunch at 2:00, which I couldn't do, which then turned into tea at 2:00 with friend and friend's two-year-old. On top of THAT, the JDE rejected the latest round of revisions on account of two tiny little formatting issues it had accepted in a previous revision. Every single goddamn time I send them anything, they reject it on account of new stupid little formatting issues. And every time they reject it, my boss forwards me the email they send her and expects me to do the fix and resubmit. GRRR.

At least the Hairy Beasts were amusing. Last night I opened a new bag of dry food to give them their "midnight snack", and brand-new dry food is their favorite kind in the entire universe. They both tried to stick their heads in the same bowl at the same time, which of course didn't work, and Lily got there first and pretty much said "Go 'way, kid." So I showed Snip where the other bowl was, and silence (more or less; Lily actually chews dry food) reigned. They were a little less inclined to get up for breakfast, because the dry food isn't absolutely brand new after eight hours or so even though I pour it straight from the sealed bag into an airtight container. Besides, today is a good day to have a slow morning.
