dchenes: (katana)
I managed not to go to work today, on account of waiting for the cable guy. But not being at work is good anyway. The cable guy showed up at 1:00, which was exactly in the middle of the window I was told to expect him, and now I have a TiVo. (And a vastly expanded cable bill, probably, but that's what I get for hauling myself by the scruff into the 21st century.) I also have hardboiled eggs and clean laundry, neither of which are to be sneezed at.

Counteracting the cable bill, next month the heat is getting converted from oil to gas. That ought to be easier on my wallet, although it's going to mean a(nother) new thermostat, and therefore new wiring for that. Probably just as well, because the current wiring looks circa 1918 or so. (I don't know what vintage this building is, come to think of it.) Between the new windows, the insulation and new furnaces, it might even be worth owning this place someday. That's always been the general idea, but it's more appealing when it isn't a heat sink.

Since I don't have to stay home and do laundry tomorrow, I should think of something to be up to. I never did go whale watching last month, but I think it's going to be too cold for that this weekend. Oh well. I'm sure there's something land-based that I can find to be up to.
