Nov. 4th, 2014 04:34 pmYep, Insidious Grue time. This particular one specializes in filling my sinuses with cement. I resorted to Advil Cold & Sinus, which dissolves the cement but also gives me insomnia of the can't-stay-asleep variety. It's going to be a long week if I have to keep deciding between sleep and oxygen.
However, Pogo Volume 3 has landed, and contains both the doughnut and bean sandwiches and the fixin' to cook a grizzle bear. And as usual, I busted out laughing enough times to make Lily disgusted with me because she couldn't sleep while I was making all that noise. And that, along with the fact that the books include strips I've never seen before, is why I buy them.
I tried making cauliflower cheese the other night and discovered that if you're going to do it right, you need at least double-extra-sharp cheddar and some mustard powder that didn't come from the Tops Friendly Market in Kent. It's edible, but it's bland. At least I managed to make cheese sauce without breaking it, for once. Probably because as far as I'm concerned, it didn't have enough cheese in it. Hence the Congdon method for mac and cheese, which involves more cheese than you think is going to fit in the baking dish, and comes out splendidly.
I really have to do something with that pumpkin, too.
