(no subject)
Dec. 4th, 2014 03:00 pmI'm mildly grumpy today, because today the definition of "other duties as required" (which I suspect is in my job description somewhere, but I haven't read it lately) includes "lend the admissions admin my phone to time interviews and the key for my boss's office to have interviews in for two hours" and "contact the second-round candidates for Director of Student Services interviews and send them their schedules for Monday". Usually I don't mind helping people out, but it's nice if I'm doing it because they need the help rather than because they aren't with it enough to do their own job.
I'm also mildly grumpy because if I'm not thinking hard about anything else, Rossini goes stomping through my head. He's such an earworm that he wakes me up if I'm not deeply asleep, and he sneaks in around the edges of anything else I'm listening to. Bon Jovi and Rossini is a combination about on par with dark chocolate and cauliflower, to wit: doesn't work. At all. (I didn't combine dark chocolate and cauliflower on purpose; it was an orange-juice-after-toothpaste sort of situation. And I will never do it again.)
Add "vendor liaison" and "video editor" to today's Other Duties As Required list. When your boss sends you a 40-minute movie and wants you to extract the slides being shown as part of it, that's video editing, yes? At least watching the video and noting down the times at which the pertinent slides were shown got Rossini out of my head for a while, and now it's time for tea. Because TEA, DAMMIT, and also because there's too much blood in my caffeine stream for current circumstances, but I'd like to go to bed before 11:30 tonight.
