Jan. 29th, 2015 01:59 pmWell, here I sit in the ER at BIDMC, on account of a right ankle I can stand on, but not walk on. I'm waiting for an x-ray which probably won't find what's actually wrong with it; I figure they'll send me away with an ace bandage and tell me to stay off it.
Mostly at the moment the worst thing is that I need to get rid of some borrowed coffee, and I suspect somebody will have a fit if I try to get off this gurney and hobble four feet to the bathroom in one bare foot and one sock.
And we have a winner! I put my other sock on and hobbled to the bathroom, and when I came out there was a very nice man waiting to take me to be x-rayed. My ankle isn't broken, but I could have told them that. I wouldn't have been able to stand on it if it had been. The official verdict is "probably sprained" and they sent me away with an ace bandage, but I think the regiment is going to have to invest in an air cast because it needs more support than it's getting from just the bandage.
