Feb. 12th, 2015 04:03 pmBought tickets today, having sorted out the time off and gotten it approved yesterday. So I really am going to Australia in April. I'm going to lie around a resort for ten days , which is a new thing for me, but right now what I want out of a vacation is (a) no snow and (b) not so much dashing around Doing Things. I can go snorkeling if I want to, or go meet a wombat, but I don't really want my usual "go to a city, buy a map and wander around getting lost for a week". I may do that someday in Sydney, but right now it ain't what I want.
Speaking of what I want, I would love for some snow to go away so it stops holding up traffic and taking me an extra half hour to get to chorus rehearsal. Fortunately half an hour between arrival and rehearsal is long enough to go to Chipotle and inhale some food, but then I go and breathe Chipotle at the rest of the alto section. They haven't said they'd rather I didn't, but I'd rather I didn't. Especially since I didn't even really want Chipotle for dinner last night, but didn't have quite enough time to get what I did want, which was pizza and an ice cream sundae. However, I've been doing enough snow shoveling this week to be able to have pizza and ice cream tonight, so I think I might. And I think I might eat out, because otherwise Lily will want pizza crust and ice cream and I don't feel like sharing. Although I do have to say that it's very cute when she steals a pizza crust and stands on one end of it to hold it down while she chews on the other end.
Or since it's snowing again, maybe I'll just call Brick House on the way home and take a slight detour to pick up my pizza.
Tomorrow: apply for Australian visa, and look up what power adapters I'm going to need this time. I've got adapters for India and for (western) Europe, but of course the ones for Australia are neither of those. (And people complain about metric vs English, and Celsius vs Fahrenheit? How about standardizing plugs down to two kinds?)
