dchenes: (katana)
So, I can has night guard, or "occlusal appliance" if you're being fancy about it. The first night went pretty well, except I kept getting distracted from falling asleep because my tongue couldn't quit playing with the thing. And I can't whistle for Snip while I'm wearing it, and whistling is how I get her to stop hollering about killing her puffball and come to bed. Then I had a dream involving a very squishy mouth guard I had to keep in while doing all sorts of active stuff. The real thing isn't hardly squishy at all. And obviously I didn't choke on it in my sleep.

The trick is going to be figuring out where in the morning routine to add "clean the night guard" and remembering not to do it with the toothpaste I use on my actual teeth. (You're supposed to use "non-abrasive toothpaste" on the night guard. My dentist admitted there's no such thing as non-abrasive toothpaste, but the stuff I use on my teeth has crystals in it, so it's absolutely Right Out. I'm using the travel-size samples I get when I have my teeth cleaned and otherwise only use for travel, instead.)

The weather forecast thinks we're going to have three inches of ice on top of all the existing snow by Sunday night. I'm betting on mid-March before there's a forecast that mentions any melting. And then of course it will be a "Panic! All the snow's gonna melt in 24 hours and everything everywhere will be flooded!" forecast. And two days later it will all freeze again anyway.

Let's see, marvelous thing: last night I had a large bowl of buttered noodles for dinner and enjoyed it quite a lot.
