dchenes: (katana)
The honeymoon is over; Lily has decided that antibiotics taste funny and wants nothing to do with any food containing them. Unfortunately we are now four days into the two-weeks-twice-a-day period, and they're antibiotics, so I can't stop. On the other hand, I guess that means she's feeling better? I submitted a pet insurance claim for the dental work and the blood work. I'm mostly expecting them to reject the blood work. Who am I kidding, I'm expecting them to reject the whole thing. Thank goodness I can afford the $1800.

Speaking of the honeymoon being over, there's a meeting tomorrow that I might need earplugs for. The basic science course directors are going to find out that all their individual courses are being consolidated into a seven-month longitudinal dental science foundations course. Which means they're going to have to actually talk to each other a lot so they can decide what goes where in the seven months. The way it has been, each course director has their own course, for which they write their own exams and quizzes and tutorial cases and all that jazz. Consolidation will be less work for them when we actually get to running the course, but we're up against institutional inertia and I'm not sure how much force it will take to get that much mass moving. (Yes, I know, F=ma. But institution=H, so a=0.)

I am officially taking at least a week off in August. My Australia trip was only three months ago, and it was quite restful while I was there, but I'm tired. I feel like I can almost catch up with myself over a three-day weekend, but only almost. There's a lot of activity going on at work, and my voice lessons this summer are on Wednesday nights, and I haven't had the necessary energy for the kind of cleaning fit I need to have on a weekend since before I left for Australia. Hell, I haven't even had the necessary energy to remember to take out the recycling for about three weeks now, and that's pathetic. Almonds have iron in them and I practically live on almonds these days, so I don't think it's anemia; it's just that I'm tired.

I guess we're not going to get a raging thunderstorm. Too bad, because I think we could use one.
