Vacation! Well, mostly just "not going to work for two weeks", but that's good too. So far today I've already gotten the old laser toner cartridge to the UPS store, filed four months of bills and miscellaneous other papers, taken the recycling out, and done 45 minutes of walking, which is the usual amount for a Monday when I walk home from work. Sometime soonish I really should go buy a paper shredder. The confidential recycling bin at HSDM isn't as confidential as the one at HMS was.

This is supposed to be the time in which I make a list of all the things that bug me off and on but I never get around to, and proceed to get around to them. The toner cartridge was one of those. You'd think that with a UPS store on the way to work, it wouldn't take me six months to get around to that. But now that the box isn't sitting next to my desk leg, I feel like I've accomplished something. I have a whole list by room of things I want to get around to, but I can't decide whether I should do them as the mood strikes, or just start at the back of the apartment and go room by room and end up at the front door with a dead list. Usually I start at the beginning and, upon reaching the end, stop. But there are several other ways that would also make sense, especially in the "don't clean the bathroom until after you've washed the floors and poured the mop bucket out in the tub" sort of way.

Speaking of washing things, the "24 hour survivance" laundromat is open again. I went in yesterday to see if they had high capacity machines, which they do, but the thing that shocked me was that all the machines are now credit card only. Usually I refuse to put anything under $10 on a credit card, but if I'm going to wash quilts there, I guess I don't have a choice. (One high capacity wash load is $7.25. Actually, by the time I get done with the dryer, it will probably be about $12.) Location-wise, that's the most convenient laundromat. And since all the machines are new, there's a chance that most of them actually work. So maybe I'll just suck it up and go wash quilts next week. Or later this week, even.
