Jan. 19th, 2016 10:09 amYesterday I kicked one of my sneakers over by accident (while trying not to step on Snip) and discovered that I had almost worn through the sole at the ball of the foot. The other one is in the same condition, shockingly enough. I knew I needed new sneakers, but I didn't know they were that bad. That's what happens when you put about ten miles a week on them for a year and a half. So yesterday I thought I would shoot down to Marathon Sports and get new ones. Not so much; the Brookline store didn't have the shoe I want in the width I need, so they're getting a pair from one of the other stores and will have it tomorrow. Except I have a chorus committee meeting tomorrow night, so I won't be able to go try on sneakers until at least Thursday. Maybe it will be warmer on Thursday? I hope so. 17 with a wind chill of -8 is not the best weather to wait for a bus in. But it does give me an excuse to stomp around in my snow boots, because I threw out the dead sneakers.
It was a good weekend, though. I got the new phone to a point where I'm not noticeably missing anything (except phone numbers; I repeat, if you think I should have your phone number, let me know what it is), and played a stupid amount of Two Dots because I had gotten up to level 117 on the old phone and had to start over on the new one. I'm back to level 57. Hopefully it won't take me a couple of months to get past level 104, this time.
I also decided to finish this embroidery by the end of March. I have four and a half of the eight sections done as of now, and assuming my shoulders don't regress too much (they've been complaining more lately), I should be able to proceed to commence. I don't really want to spend the summer trying not to sweat on white floss.
Why does it take so long to dissect a whole head of cauliflower? Broccoli isn't that difficult. But then, broccoli doesn't go so well with wing sauce and blue cheese, either. (Memo to self: next time you buy wing sauce, make sure the cap went on properly before it got shrinkwrapped. Last night I threw out a whole bottle because the shrinkwrap was the only thing holding the cap on. I ended up doing a blue-cheese-coleslaw sort of thing with the cauliflower instead; blue cheese and celery seeds. Not bad, but not quite what I wanted, either.)
I don't want a foot of snow this weekend. But at least it will have to warm up some before it can snow. If I had won the lottery, I might be looking for a small tropical island for sale right now.
