Apr. 15th, 2016 03:23 pmPursuant to yesterday's rant about chain letters, today in my junk mail folder I found a message from HMS saying they'd had complaints and asking everyone to kindly cut it out with the chain letters. Vindication!
If you're only going to do something once in your life, do it right. I've always wanted to go to a live Patriots game, but I suspect it's something that will be good to do once and I won't ever need to do again. So I spent an arm and a leg on tickets for the Patriots/Bengals game on October 16, but I got tickets in Row 3 almost at midfield and thereby got my sister a birthday present. That's "maybe show up in the background on TV" territory. And it's mid-October, so hopefully it won't be freezing cold, and the Patriots will probably win. And I'll be able to say I've been to a live professional football game once in my life. (If I had been at Kent State at the right time and had known then what I know now, I would have had to go to a college game. But Julian Edelman came through after I was gone.) And now I really absolutely can't spend any more money this spring on things that aren't necessary.
This weekend, since I'm taking Monday off, is going to consist of a lot of doing what I need to do, as opposed to what needs doing. Some of those things are actually the same things; having a sink full of dishes that need washing drives me crazy, so I need to do the dishes in order to make them go away, and the dishes need to get done because they're dirty. So, I need to sleep until I'm done sleeping, and I need to buy some sort of fruit, and I need to go out in the sunshine just to be out in the sunshine. Among other things to be determined when the time comes.
