Aug. 20th, 2018 09:17 amFirst pool session last night, and today I'm stiff in some very strange places. The moment when the gear stops being supported by water and starts being supported by you is a shock, and the mask rubbed on one side of my nose after a while. But I got through the "swim six laps without stopping" test, because I was wearing fins and BC while doing it, which is practically cheating. I don't know if I could swim six laps without stopping without all the gear on, though. I do know I can float for ten minutes with no gear at all.
I'm glad I only did one session last night. If they were all that level of intense, I could probably do two back to back, but I think they might get harder and this morning was hard enough as it is. The fact that I didn't sleep very well didn't help, and I don't know why I didn't. I was beat when I went to bed at 10:30, slept until 12:15, woke up to turn the light off and couldn't get back to sleep for about 20 minutes, slept until 3:00, woke up again and couldn't get back to sleep for half an hour, slept until 5:00, woke up again, slept until 6:50 when the alarm went off.
I also have to figure out if it's faster to get home by taking the C to Washington Square from Cleveland Circle, rather than walking home from Reservoir for half an hour. I didn't want a half-hour walk home, but I did it anyway. Had to; the special last night was No Trains at Chestnut Hill Ave and No 86 Bus anywhere. (Also, No Trains back to Reservoir for about 20 minutes. I should have taken the time and showered properly at the pool instead of thinking I could get home expediently and shower there.)
At least it was a nice night last night to wait for the train. It finally stopped being absurdly humid and the breeze came up. It would have been excellent sleeping weather if I had been able to actually sleep. And I did four of the five big things I wanted to get done this weekend. The one that lost out was, of course, vacuuming. Sigh. The living room rug looks just awful and I know I'll feel much better when it's back to normal again, but for some reason I still hate vacuuming.
