Today has been much better than last Saturday. I had lunch before 3:00, to start with, and I went to two different grocery stores and the bookstore, and Peet's made up for last week in spades (although I didn't mention last week; it just happened to shake out that there was a table available and it was slow enough that once I sat down, the barista actually brought me my drink as opposed to calling me to come up and get it).

And I am no longer running out of laundry soap or lemon olive oil or shampoo, and Trader Joe's had tea again, and I bought some saline sinus rinse to try to make my ears behave better (I'm starting to think the problem is in my sinuses, and affecting my ears). Saline in the sinuses has to be better than chlorine, anyway.

And I bought a book (Kill the Farm Boy) which, after seven chapters, is maintaining a level of relentlessly silly that might get old if I read it in big chunks, but it's impressively relentlessly silly. Even Terry Pratchett took his foot off the gas once in a while, but not this book. Take every fairy tale trope there is, turn it upside down and sideways and shake vigorously. And then run it through with a skewer.

The only complaint about today is that my porch got painted with oil-based outdoor paint and my apartment reeks of paint despite having the windows shut. I suppose if I got my act together and actually made beef and mushroom and barley soup, at least the place wouldn't smell entirely like paint. But that would require getting my act together and I'm not sure I want to, just now.
