Nov. 17th, 2018 06:01 pmLily is home, in quarantine, and starting to think about eating again. So far, however, she's more interested in me than in food. She has a serious case of "MY mama!" every time I go in there, and I've been in there three times today sorting out how this is all going to work.
So far it goes like this:
- The bed in that room has an under (my bed upstairs doesn't). The first time I met her, she was under a bed. It doesn't hurt that there's a great big piece of foam rubber under there, either. Every time I stick my head in, there's UnCat until she realizes it's me and comes out from under the bed. And when the dog goes by and inhales the entire room from the crack under the door, she goes under the bed.
- I needed to go buy a second large water dish, because she drinks a lot anyway (kidneys) and it's very warm in that room with the door shut. So I did that. It won't hurt if she has all the dishes she's used to, anyway. But I may just have to keep topping off the water from a bottle, because going in and out to empty and refill the water dish is going to make her want to come too, and she can't.
- Because it's very warm in that room, she only ate about a third of a can of chicken wet food. I won't be surprised if she doesn't eat any more of it today, although she wanted it when I tried to take it away. She got an appetite stimulant yesterday and refused to eat regardless, so hospital = not eating.
- I don't have to keep the dinner food in there, just the second-dinner food. The dinner food can be delivered from upstairs. Especially because dishing it out requires a spoon.
- It's surprisingly hard to buy dishwashing gloves. I struck out at Whole Foods (which had them, but only in a small, which won't fit me), CVS, and b.fresh. I ended up with single-use food prep gloves, which, as long as they go in the bag with the litter after I'm done, should be OK. The discharge instructions said dishwashing gloves and keep using them for two weeks.
- I can hear Snip hollering upstairs when I'm downstairs, so I'm sure Lily can too.
