The Friday list for this week: Drop off the Trader Joe's tuna at the MSPCA, and go to the dive shop and ask for advice about snorkels. I bought mine before I knew anything about anything, and now I know why all of the instructors don't like dry snorkels. I can't get any air through mine after it's been submerged, which is not a comfortable thing to have happen. Besides, I don't want to use tank air on the surface if I don't have to; there's no limit to surface air as long as I can get it through the snorkel.

Also, Amazon screwed up and sent me another mesh duffel bag, not the backpack I had ordered. So I had to send it back, and I still don't have a bag that will work for me, and that makes me rather more annoyed than I probably should be. Having sent me the wrong thing once, I don't really trust them to send me the right thing if I re-order it. Add "ask about bags" to the dive shop list for tomorrow.

It's a good thing today is functionally Friday, because I have just about had it with work this week. We haven't had any hot water in this building since last week (hand washing has been no fun at all), and the PCard system got screwed up last month so I had to submit about three weeks of receipts and reports today, one of which was a lunch delivery. Delivery services don't believe in tax exemptions, so I had to fill out a missing receipt form because what showed up on the official report didn't match the receipt. This is why, when I have to order food for something and the only way I can get what I want is via delivery service, I use my own card and get reimbursed for it. It's not worth arguing about taxes, because the argument goes on forever and the answer is always "the transaction already went through, nothing we can do about it." And Monday sucked, in general.

However, Remembering the Good Things, dive club meeting tonight, which means I go and have a beer and listen to a 20-minute diving-related talk, and meet people. It's interesting that everyone who's heard why I'm not certified yet has said "That happens, don't worry about it, you'll get it next time." Some weeks I just want to buy a ticket to Florida and go there and get it over with, but that's partly because it's March in Boston and it was 17 degrees this morning and I OBJECT. Being up to my eyebrows in warm ocean water sounds marvelous.

Also good, three more weeks and the next Expanse book will be out. I hope.
