Apr. 2nd, 2019 01:34 pmI'm hoping that taking the massive box the cat food came in, and the yards of brown paper it was packed with, out to the recycling bin this morning will make me happy when I get home and it's not taking up space in the kitchen. I got another can of salmon that had already been dented so badly it had broken open, but it hadn't actually spoiled yet. It went out anyway, of course. If that happens a third time, I'll be extremely displeased.
I am out of recycling bags, for the first time in years. I've been using my own bags when I go grocery shopping, because it's easier to carry things long distances over my shoulder and I can't do that with paper bags. But I am now out of paper bags and I have no idea what to put the recycling in. Amazon has paper bags, of course, but I don't want to give Amazon more money right this minute. I guess I had better go to a grocery store and buy enough stuff to fit in a couple of bags. But I don't need that much stuff. I wonder if they'd just sell me a couple of bags?
Gotta go diving again this weekend, but I can't decide which wetsuit I want to do it in. It would be good to go in full kit including my own wetsuit at least once, but I want one more session of skills practice in gloves, in the dive well. When I do skills practice, I do it in a wetsuit I don't have to think about. So I guess I go this weekend for skills and next weekend for messing around in the dive well in my own wetsuit. They'll let me do anything I want to, gear-wise, now that I've passed all the formal classes. And I don't have to stay for two hours if I'm only messing around.
It's apparently time for another round of emails sent to the wrong Molly. If I hadn't just gotten a new passport, I would seriously consider changing my last name to Irving. That would fix some of the problems, and also fix people not being able to spell the last name I was born with. Of course, it would probably also lead people of a certain age to start calling me Molly Ivins...although she's been dead for more than ten years now, so maybe not.
The new Expanse book did come out last week, and I finished it this weekend. It will be interesting to see how they end the series in the next one. I also finished Bad Blood, which gave me the creeps because of the sociopaths involved.
HSDM is going to start a school-wide non-dental book swap shelf, because I had mentioned the idea to somebody when I started the ODE version.
Two people I used to work with at HMS are getting Harvard Hero awards this year. I'm petty enough to notice that one of them is the office manager's pet, and I was very much not the office manager's pet when I was there, but I got the award first. So the office manager over there can go suck eggs. That's not nice of me, but I'm human, and sometimes I'm not nice.
