May. 30th, 2019 10:17 amI am not complaining about dining on Harvard's dime three times this week. What I am complaining about is having spent 27 of the last 48 hours in eight-hour shoes in the service of two of them. Today I am wearing sneakers and wishing I could go barefoot.
Having said that, however, Deuxave was the best idea I've had in ages. We had the ODE MMSc in Dental Ed dinner there on Tuesday, and everybody told me at least once that it was absolutely amazing. I think the best thing I ate is a tie between the duck confit (second course) and the cassis sorbet (dessert).
Last night was the Dental Public Health dinner, which I went to as the representative for the MMSc in Dental Education program. The Harvard Faculty Club is nice, but the food wasn't as good. It was reasonably good institutional salad and pedestrian salmon/rice/veg and fairly terrible dessert, but at least there was beer. The company was good, though, and I got to talk to people I don't usually see in the course of wearing my DMD hat.
Today is the post-commencement reception with finger food and beer and wine, which is always worth going to, but I'm being massively selfish and hoping the dairy allergy restrictions don't leave us with veggies and hummus. Not that there's anything wrong with that, and I probably ought to be eating veggies and hummus for a week anyway after the last two dinners, but it's not quite as fancy as this reception usually is.
Mostly I just want this week to be over with. I don't understand why today can't be Friday.
