Having done it several times now, I've come to the conclusion that I HATE (loathe, detest, despise, can't stand) packing up an apartment while I'm living in it. Apparently I'm one of those people who likes to have a place they feel like they belong in, and when half of my stuff is in boxes and the other half is all over the place, it doesn't feel like home any more. (Not that half of my stuff is in boxes, yet, based on the number of boxes I took out of storage yesterday, but that's beside the point.) Dorm packing was different, because a dorm was a place I was living, as opposed to being home.

I'm still debating what I want to do with this TV cabinet I bought secondhand. It holds the TV up admirably, but it doesn't do anything else very well. It's not set up in such a way that I can put the VCR and the DVD player on the same shelf, and therefore I can't really use the bottom shelf for storage. On top of that, the damn thing weighs a ton and takes up a fair amount of space, and I don't think I feel like moving it any farther than I have to (as in, down to the dumpster). Unfortunately, if I don't take it with me, the TV, VCR and DVD player have to go back to living on the ironing board until I can afford to buy something else to hold them up with, and I already know from experience that the ironing board isn't the most stable place to keep a TV. I'm not sure I don't want a small Metro-shelving cart sort of thing for this, but see above about not affording it.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll manage something somehow or other.
