Aug. 21st, 2005 11:37 pmMy landlord had a party out back in the garden last night. It went on until 1:30 this morning. I know that, because that's when the music finally went off for good. It was slightly after I went to bed. It wasn't even really all that loud, but I've got all my windows open.
Today, after I finally hauled my carcass out of bed and through the shower, I proceeded to commence doing laundry. I didn't have as much laundry to do as I thought, which is all well and good because it means I don't have to fold huge amounts of clothes.
I have one patch of sunburn over each shoulderblade (I missed with the sunscreen on Friday afternoon), and today they itch.
I love Trader Joe's, particularly the fact that for $0.99, you can get enough pizza dough to make a rather large calzone. I haven't done that yet, because I ended up eating dinner elsewhere tonight, but maybe I'll do it tomorrow. I may have to start making menu lists like my mother used to. The difference is, hers told her what had to go on the grocery list. Mine tell me what I already bought and now have to cook. I never did get around to making peppers and eggs today.
Getting out of Brighton on the bus was ridiculously easy. I had just finished reading the schedule on the bus stop signpost when I looked up and lo, there was my bus. It was one of the new ones, and it snuck up on me. Now all I have to do is figure out how not to get off the 66 and wait twenty minutes for the 57 inbound, and how not to get off the 57 and wait twenty minutes for the 66 outbound.
Once I asked somebody for whom cilantro doesn't taste like soap, what it does taste like. They said it tastes green. I don't know about that, but now I know that chartreuse tastes green, in addition to actually being green.
I'm getting sick of ironing my interview clothes. I suppose if I hung them up properly when I took them off, I wouldn't have so much of a problem.
This weekend I downloaded a free translation program for Macs, so I can play with it. The MacLingua list seems to think it's worth playing with, more so than WordFast, even. I just wish the help files wouldn't open in Preview. It's a PDF file, but it's part of the program, so I can't open it independently in Adobe Reader. I'd print the whole works if it wasn't 50 pages long.
I don't know why I'm so tired all of a sudden. I think I'll go fall over.
