Good idea: going grocery shopping when there isn't much food in the house.
Bad idea: going grocery shopping when it's 103 degrees outdoors.
Good idea: remembering to reserve a Zipcar because almost everything on the grocery list is heavy.
Bad idea: getting carried away buying heavy things, because you forget you still have to carry them upstairs after they come out of the car.
Worse idea: doing all of the above while already dehydrated.

I survived, although it was not the brightest thing I've ever done. One of the bottles of seltzer didn't survive for long after I got it upstairs.

Today I had to go out and spend a lot of money at Staples. But then I got to come home and figure out how the digital voice recorder works, and FINALLY put all the miscellaneous paper souvenirs from India in a binder. (Twelve pages of travelogue, the train ticket from Delhi to Jaipur, the brochure explaining (in execrable English) how to put on a sari, the miniature drawing an artist in Jaipur made while I was talking to him, a very silly article from the Times of India about genetically modified eggplants, etc.)

If I get nothing more than the above and four of the six possible loads of laundry done today, I'm still doing pretty well. I still have to do something about next week's lunch, but it's not difficult to make gazpacho and hardboiled eggs if it comes to that.
