I went to the periodontist today for removal of some extra tissue around my last right-hand lower molar. Never having had novocaine before, the sensation of having numb teeth was very odd. Numb lip, I can deal with; numb teeth are just weird. I have, on doctor's orders, taken eight Advil in the last eight hours, and have to take four more before I go to bed. Since I took the last four at 7:00, I'm trying not to go to bed before 11:30.

I suppose having this done was a good thing, but right now I could really live without it. (I suspect that tomorrow, when I start with the twice-daily mouth rinse that contains 11% alcohol, I'll be saying that again. Listerine is bad enough when you don't have any brand-new large raw spots in your mouth, and I think Listerine has less alcohol in it.) I'm glad I did this on a Saturday. If I'd done it on a Sunday, I would not be going to work the next day. And I'm very glad I canceled the voice lesson I would have had today. Singing just would not have worked at all.

OW, anyway.
