OK, New Plan. New Plan which I like better, even. There are open water dives on the weekend of Oct 20, so I'm going to shoot for those. I can put up with being cold more than I can put up with pressuring myself to Get The Pool Sessions Done NOW. This way I have a couple of weeks to get through 6 and 7, and a week to go back and review if I think I want to.

The trick is going to be getting myself to Barnstable and back. You can't get there without driving, which would be bad enough, but I'm worried about the "getting back" part. I'm frapped out enough at the end of a four-hour session; I can't imagine I'd be in any shape to drive after multiple open water dives in a day. I have to figure out what the hell I'm going to do.

We're back to figuring out what the hell we're going to do about Lily, whose kidneys are not ideal but not life-threatening awful either. I'm waiting for Dr. P to talk to Dr. D and then get back to me about whether Radioactive Cat can still happen. Watch it have to happen on October 22, just because nothing is ever particularly simple these days.

Speaking of which, good heavens, remind me not to want to go to China. The visa process to send some of our faculty over to Shanghai for four days of conference in mid-October is fairly ridiculous. Three of us went to hand-deliver visa applications to a processing center downtown yesterday, and aside from the office not being where Google said it was, it also wasn't entirely clear what documents we should have filled out. And then they decided that an academic conference needs a business visa, so we had to get a whole other set of letters guaranteeing that the Chinese government won't be paying for anything. GAH.

There was enough Wednesday this week to make a Wednesday and a Thursday. Today should be Friday, and I'm very disappointed that it isn't. I have also arrived at the conclusion that the HRC meeting minutes matter a lot more to the president than they do to me. I don't care that I haven't typed up and sent out the mid-July meeting minutes yet. The next meeting is next week. We keep having the same meeting over and over again, so what do we even need minutes for? Just send an email once a month that says we need money, and advertising isn't worth spending money on, and ticket prices and/or dues are staying the same as they were last time (refer to umpteen previous sets of minutes), and have done with it. So there.
