Dec. 20th, 2018 04:23 pmLily has put on 2/3 of a pound while eating less. It took Dr. P and I a while to figure out that yes, she only weighs 6.64 now, but that's still good because at Angell, she weighed 6.06, and that was "hyperactive cat skeleton with fur on it" territory. She's still on the skinny side; I'd like her to weigh slightly over seven pounds, but it's not a disaster if she doesn't. I'm glad I didn't know at the time that she only weighed six pounds. That's scary, especially since she wouldn't eat.
I'm trying to figure out what to do with a bottle of fairly strongly smoked olive oil. It's strong enough to have to use sparingly, and I've been using it as a finishing oil, more or less. Nothing wrong with that, but eventually olive oil goes bad.
No, I am not going diving in Maine on New Year's Day. BRR.
Apparently the plan for Christmas (and Boxing Day) is to eat a lot in the company of my favorite aunt and uncle. That sounds just like what I want. I'm really looking forward to this because even though I like Thanksgiving, I always end up having to remind myself that it isn't a competition with my sister even though she regards almost everything as a competition. That gets tiring. Since she hates Christmas and will be off in Utah climbing rocks, I get to relax with my favorite family members and it doesn't matter that I haven't gone diving with harbor seals yet. And I'm allowed to like the Messiah and Christmas carols (I still hate Christmas songs) and have fun digging through the ornaments box.
But first I get to go home tonight and indulge in eggnog, because I was trying to buy shrimp last night and didn't find the ones I wanted, but eggnog was on sale.
