Mar. 16th, 2004 11:22 amWe got snow. We got a fairly large amount of snow, although I can't tell how much because it's been blowing around. Enough snow that they canceled morning classes, anyway.
I officially have a throat cold. I sound like a frog and I spend a lot of time trying to clear my throat. At least it's not a sinus cold; I can breathe, and therefore I can sleep.
I think maybe one of the things I'm going to do next week is see about getting my hair trimmed again. As far as I can tell, it's not that shaggy yet, but the last time I had it trimmed was in October, so it's probably due for it. I'm getting enough money back from my federal taxes that I'm not terribly worried about spending money on a haircut.
Right. Back to the midterm. The problem with it is tying the theory and the practice together; I can see the practical problems in the text, but I can't always find a theoretician who wrote anything about it. People write reams about translating poetry, but they don't seem to write anything about translating an author's particular style of prose. It's all about the style of the language, not the style of the writer. Sigh. Hopefully I'll get credit for trying, anyway. Two and a half more pages is all I need to get done...
I got a B+ on my French Theater midterm, which was better than I thought and worse than I should have done (I studied some of the wrong things at the expense of some of the right things).
Isn't it next week yet?
EDIT: They've canceled all classes on this campus today. Either the roads are a mess or we're going to get hit with snow squalls all day. It doesn't seem to be snowing right now.
