Je me rends
May. 13th, 2004 06:49 pmI gave up and shut the windows and turned the air conditioner on, after not having slept very well for the third night in a row. I forgot about the discussion I had to have with the heat when I turned that on, whereby I set it on automatic instead of constant and then messed around with it until I got it to mean "automatic" in the sense of "comes on and blows air for about fifteen minutes every hour and a half", instead of in the sense of "comes on and blows air for half an hour and then stops for fifteen minutes", which runs up my electric bill like mad. Anyway, I think I've finally talked it into doing what I want.
I've got another job prospect, which I haven't actually applied for yet, but I'm going to do that tomorrow. On the way to the grocery store I noticed a Help Wanted sign in a pizza parlor window, and when I got back from grocery shopping, I called them. Turns out they want kitchen help, and as much as I don't like food service, at least kitchen help doesn't have to deal with the general public. And I'd rather do that than do telemarketing; at least I've done food service before. I'd really like to have a job before Memorial Day.
Anybody want a mango? They were on sale, so now I've got four of them, all of which are like rocks. Hopefully they'll be edible sometime next week. I think I hear a barbaric mango festival coming (close kin to a barbaric grapefruit festival, in which I eat a grapefruit like an orange and make a horrendous mess and don't care particularly).
