dchenesYesterday was a weird day. Aside from the thunder squalls, I couldn't stay awake in the afternoon. I ended up taking a nap, and woke up just in time for the power to go out the first time. It went out again at 1:30 this morning, and woke me up because I wasn't really asleep yet. I saw the flash outside as the street lights went out. I woke up again for no reason at 4:45, and my alarm clock was blinking 12:23 at me. (A flashlight is like a plumber's helper; you may not need one often, but when you do need one, you REALLY need one.)
Today it's overcast, although it hasn't rained in long enough for the sidewalks to dry out. In a flash of inspiration, I figured out what the deal is with the A/C. It will take the humidity out of the air indoors, but only if I crank it up high enough to make it arctic in here, and I don't want it arctic in here. I can have it cool and humid if I leave the thermostat where I want it, hot and humid if I turn it off and open the windows, or dry and arctic (and expensive) if I turn up the cold air.
My shoulder is no longer sore, which is nice of it.
Nothing new on the job-hunting front. (AKA no new jobs to apply for, and no word from the ones I have applied for.)
My father now has a sinus infection, allergies and a bout of asthma instead of bronchitis. He sounds exactly like he did that winter, and he's utterly tired of it. When my mom called me last weekend, I got to talk with her and at Dad, since he couldn't talk without coughing.
I saw a lady goldfinch in the bush across from my front door this morning. I wonder if that means there's a gentleman goldfinch around here somewhere?
