My grandfather is doing better. It wouldn't surprise me at all if, since he's now doing better, he decides there's nothing really wrong with him and wants to go back to business as usual. He's never really been sick in his life, and he's probably the most stubborn person I know. I feel sorry for my aunts, who have to keep telling him over and over that he can't do everything himself any more.

I just finished a very strange book called The Secret History. It's somewhat of a cross between a mystery and a horror story. I can't figure out whether it was supposed to take place in the 70s or the 80s, since it's never mentioned, and the major characters all act at least ten years older than their stated ages. The plot is driven by the characters, instead of the characters acting within the plot, so since the characters annoyed me, the plot annoyed me a bit too. It did, however, keep me occupied yesterday afternoon and this morning. (My sister brought me a whole mess of books that are making the rounds of various family members, just in time, because I had just finished my current crop of library books.)

Since I never did get to Trader Joe's last weekend, I didn't buy some of the perishable things I wanted. I did, however, get some very good feta at the West Side Market, and am trying not to eat it all before I get around to making spinach pie with it. The trick to that, of course, is figuring out where in Kent to get phyllo, since I neglected to buy any of that last weekend either (and I could have. There's very little you can't get at the West Side Market on a weekend).

I had another thought, but it seems to have gone. No wonder. How did it get to be after midnight already?
