I have a cold. I have the kind of cold that makes me sound like a frog and fills up my sinuses. However, at least it left me one side of my nose to breathe through. I would really like to be home right now, preferably asleep.
This weekend was when I got the cold, I think. On Saturday I went to get my hair re-streaked, except they didn't have time to dry my hair afterward so I went out in the rain with wet hair. (I just KNEW I should've worn my waterproof parka with the hood...) I went next door to the beauty supply store and the woman in there took one look at me, started laughing and said "Let me guess; you want a blow dryer." I wanted a comb, actually, but it was pretty funny. Then we went to Wilson Farms in Lexington and I went a little nuts with buying veggies. They made a really good salad, though, and I made pork chops, and it all worked out. I really should keep telling myself that I'm a pretty good cook when I want to be.
Sunday I went to King Richard's Faire and, as usual, ran into somebody I know, who didn't know I was going to be there. The Faire was fun, and I tried on corsets and fell in love with a Roman short sword (which I can't afford) and got rained on some more (it always rains when we go, except last year when it was blowing about half a gale instead) and bought fudge and did all the requisite things you do when you go to King Richard's. The car deciding not to start when we wanted to go home was less fun than it could have been, but we got back anyway (thank goodness for jumper cables).
Yesterday, I did a whole lot of nothing. Well, if you count going to the grocery store and reading a book and a half and trying to find my bedroom floor and playing Civ II and doing the dishes as nothing. I'm getting to the point where I've read every book I own at least four times and I've read them all recently enough to remember the plots. It's either time to buy more books or time to start going to libraries a lot.
Does it make any sense for the school to say "OK, you're not allowed to use IE any more, use Netscape instead" and then get a time entry system that only works in IE? I hate the new time entry system, for several reasons, among which are the umpteen password requirements (punctuation, capital letters, numbers) and the fact that you have to come up with a completely new and completely unique password every 90 days. This for a system I only access once a week. GRR. On top of which, with my screen settings the way they are, I can't see what I'm entering. My screen is set for grey on black, but IE does black on black.
I've got a whole other rant brewing about why it's been an hour from the time I started this until now, when I'm finishing it, but I'll spare you all.

I'm sorry
Date: 2002-10-15 04:09 pm (UTC)I'm sorry, I didn't mean to infect everyone!
>I'm a pretty good cook when I want to be.
Cool. Any chance I could convince you to cook for the group sometime soon?
>It's either time to buy more books or time to start going to libraries a lot.
Or start borrowing from friends. What kinds of books do you like to read?
Of all things, I'm thinking of trying my had at writing a romance novel. Interested in being a reader if I get going on it?
>a time entry system that only works in IE?
It makes no sense at all.
You could use IE's Password management to store the usernames and passwords for you, so you only have to remember them when you have to change them.
Or just write them on a slip of paper in your wallet.
You could try Opera. It can handle a lot of sites that otherwise only do IE, and has a whole boatload of nice features. (Tabbed browsing, password management etc)
I'm looking forward to hearing that rant you mentioned.
