Back in the days before OS X, there was a program called Conflict Catcher. I find it somewhat ironic that I seem to need it now that it doesn't exist any more. Consensus has it that what I've got is a software problem, but I can't get far enough into anything to find the problem, let alone fix it. I could take it to the Mac store on campus, but then I'd be without a computer at all for at least a couple of days. If I could get a guarantee that it would only be a couple of days, I'd do it, but they can't guarantee it and I can't do without my computer for a week or more during classes. (Hm. Since the computer store sends out its repairs on Wednesdays, and since the KSU caravan to the ATA meeting is leaving on a Wednesday afternoon, maybe I could drop it off then, let them play with it while I'm at the meeting, and hopefully come home and find it fixed? That sounds like a plan, which generally means I've forgotten some important detail or other.)

Having done a whole mess of printer research, I've decided I want a LaserJet 1012. It's only an inch larger in all three dimensions than my current printer. Which means it still won't fit on my desk, but at least it won't have quite as much of a Sherman tank complex as most laser printers. The question now is where do I get one from (eBay? MacMall? Some other place?) and do I wait until after the ATA meeting (yes).

I wish I could figure out why I seem to be stressing out about everything lately. I can feel my back tying knots in itself, and that's not good. I think maybe I'll go out and sit in the sun for half an hour and see if that helps any.

[EDIT: I've given up and ordered Panther. It was going to have to happen eventually anyway. And my back is still tying knots in itself, but the sunshine was quite nice.]

If I recall, conflict catcher was about reworking your system extensions so they all played nice, in the sandbox. Is the OS you are now using acting unstable? I wish I could help but I understand less about OS Ten than System Seven.

Ive had an Epson for seven years, the canon and lexmarks are now dead after half as long.

There's something screwy going on between the drivers for my CD drive and iTunes, I think. I'm starting to wonder if it has more to do with iTunes 4.6 or OS X 10.2.8, since 10.2.8 was the last release before Panther, and Apple REALLY wanted everybody to upgrade to Panther.

My current printer is a Canon inkjet, but I think a laser printer would be a good idea and I've had good luck with HP laser printers at various jobs.

I'd offer you a back rub, but there are geographic challenges (and I am stuck at work for another 11 hours anyway)
