...but it's an uphill battle. Today's lesson, carried over from yesterday, is that if I go out with my classmates, I get to bed at 3 AM, which happened last time, too. Last night was a nice night, though. Fifteen of us went to a Thai restaurant (yum, rad nar) and then most of the French-speaking contingent went to somebody's apartment to watch a movie, and then we ended up going out for a drink, and then it was 2:30 AM, and...

Well, anyway, I've been up for about three hours, and I've finished my draft translation for the week, except for parallel texts (parallel does have three L's in it, but not consecutively, which is how I've typed it four times now). So, the rest of today consists of composition exercises and laundry, and some minor major cooking (I wanted to make cider-roasted pork, and I haven't gotten around to brining it yet). Hm. I'm going to have to get creative about the laundry, because my only clean pants are the ones with the holes in the inseams, which means I really can't wear them in public any more. That may be what bike shorts are for, though.

I still haven't quite processed this whole Next Weekend thing. I don't regret it, but it surprised me with how spontaneous it was, and it scared me with how easy it was to say I'd do it and how out of character it feels. It'll be good, and good for me besides. But it's about as far from safe and pedestrian and mundane and all the other things I seem to be lately as I can get.

eek!

Minor major cooking, as in cooking a little of something complicated. As opposed to major minor cooking, which is cooking a lot of something easy. Better?

Or minor major cooking, which might be something more like parboiling the poor chape, vs. major minor cooking, which would involve some poor coal digger being left over the barbecue for weeks.

o;-)

(I kind of figured that it was a serious feat you were working on, if the recipe started with brining)

Sometimes that the best sort of thing to shake yourself up and keep things interesting.

Given that they are your classmates, presumably with the same workload, I would guess that they're not up for doing that too often either.
