Random thoughts in no particular order:
There was Christmas, even though my parents' house has absolutely no decoration aside from the wreath on the front door. I got here after dinner on the 24th, and by the time I arrived, the place was downright civilized. The kitchen/dining room has linoleum and a refrigerator and a stove. It still has no cabinets, countertops or sink, but at least now one can cook in the kitchen and not go looking for the fridge on the porch. We had prime rib and roasted potatoes for Christmas dinner, and apple pie for dessert, and I did the dishes in the upstairs bathroom sink.
The living room at the moment contains a drafting table and not much else.
The radiant heat system in the floors is EXTREMELY nifty. The floors are always warm and since the radiators are all gone, I don't have to try to keep the bedcovers out of them. (It was quite a shock when I discovered that one end of my duffel bag, which is sitting on the floor, was warm. I'm not used to heat coming out of the middle of the floor.)
Tomorrow I get my hairs cut. That's sort of scary to think about. I've had this hairstyle for, um, about ten years now. I had an anxiety dream about haircuts last night, but it was mixed up with a completely different dream at the same time, so it wasn't quite as bad as a straight anxiety dream. Besides, hair grows, so if I end up with a bad haircut, I can grow it out.
Although I love my sister dearly, I really wish she acted less superior, because it makes me feel worthless. I said something random in jest about the amount of junk mail I get in my credit card bills and she cut me down like I had insulted her.
I got some extremely soft and fuzzy socks for Christmas, and I almost don't want to wear them and beat down the pile on the soles. Isn't that silly? I suppose I had better wear them here (or in Boston), where there isn't wall-to-wall carpet and I won't turn myself into a lightning rod.
I suppose I had better go figure out whether I'm going back to Boston tomorrow or Wednesday. It depends on how long it takes me to get my hairs cut, among other things.

Date: 2004-12-29 07:16 am (UTC)Dunno, I'd rather wear my fleecy socks with tread around the house. and MINE have Eeyores on them, and little balls at the heel. (because mom thinks I'm 6)

And family can be hard to be around around the holidays sometimes.
People get stressy. It can be unfun. *hug*
