Some day I will learn to make soup without burning the garlic. Not today, though. (It's chicken and coconut soup, and it's quite good for first-day soup anyway. Soup is always better the second day.)
Mmm Chicken coconut soup! Yummy! I should make some of that. In fact, I think I have all the ingredients to do that in the house right now. Perhaps I won't have Paella for dinner, lunch, and dinner again. (I like my paella but it does get repetitive after a while. And while making a big batch helps save $$, I don't want to eat only that until the stuff runs out. Variation is good.)
Even better still, if I make soup for dinner it should be pretty quick and easy to do. That's good because tonight is busy cleaning up and doing bills and banking stuff for us both. So neither of us is terribly inclined to spend much time on cooking. (And I cooked the big paella yesterday night so I don't want to make 2 elaborate dishes 2 nights in a row.)
Discovered I didn't have any broth in the house to use as a base for the soup. And it was already 10pm by the time we got away from the minutia to actually make dinner. So we settled for some hot cereal. Trader Joe's is making a mixed whole grain cereal with some oats and barley and stuff in it. Tasty if you add some fruit or a bit of jam or maple syrup. So we had that instead. But I'm gonna have to go out tomorrow and get some broth and garlic (I'm all out of that too now) so I can make chicken coconut soup. Cuz now the soup is calling me.

Thanks for the idea!
