Here I sit, with a sore spot over the left side of my ribs which is either a muscle cramp or something I pulled slightly yesterday, and I'm wondering why I'm at work when it hurts to take a deep breath.

The answer is, I'm at work because I was physically capable of getting out of bed. And NPR is doing another beg-a-thon, so lounging around in bed listening to the radio like I do sometimes is Right Out. And besides, if I wasn't here, there wouldn't be food for the faculty meeting and nobody would be babysitting the student who showed up today, two months late.

All that aside, I had a good weekend. It didn't even rain at all, and I spent Saturday hanging around and doing errands and arguing with the internet. Yesterday I went climbing, which is how I hurt myself, but I did pretty well. I got most of the way up George of the Jungle; the last move is how I hurt myself, I think. Since I didn't know yet that I'd hurt myself, I went up another 5.7 in a corner afterward, and I did get all the way to the top of that. Whee!

Yesterday afternoon/evening I spent hanging around at the Orensteins'. That was fun. It was very silly, which is one of the best kinds of fun, and there are digital camera pictures somewhere of me blowing soap bubbles and Jill with her hair full of bubbles. I hadn't blown soap bubbles in years. I forgot how much fun it is.

Ow. I think I'm going home at noon if I can manage it. Random actions keep catching my ribs the wrong way.
