the last hurrah
Aug. 15th, 2003 11:00 amToday is my last day at work. Tomorrow I set off on a new adventure. In the words of Wallace Tripp:
Some friend must now, perforce,
Go forth and bid my boy
To saddle me my wooden horse,
For I mean to conquer Troy.
In my case, I mean to conquer Kent, but that doesn't rhyme at all. I'd have to saddle my own horse, too. Which, over the course of the last month or so, I have. I'm about as prepared as I can be; hotel reserved, truck taken care of, appointment made to sign apartment lease, belongings packed.
Among my belongings is a box of food I probably can't get in Kent, or can't get as cheap as I can here. It's half Trader Joe's and half Super 88. ( The contents... )
Hopefully we won't run into any power outage problems on the way out there. I'm not worried about it, though. I'm tired, because Galileo spent last night convinced that my feet were deadly enemies and therefore needed to be pounced on regularly. I'm trying not to think about missing the cats. I'm sure it will hit me eventually, but so far I can put it off.
What I can't put off is going to the bank, so I think I'll go do that. The next time I update this, it will be from Ohio. Happy weekend, all.
