I think I've stripped most of the gears in my head. I went from working on a final version of Molière written à la Guys and Dolls (which is in English, at least) to working on translating Oscar Wilde into French. I also stripped a couple of gears in MS Word, which accepted it when I told it I was typing in French, but then promptly forgot where it hid its French grammar files, so I had to reinstall them. It also has fits when what I've got is a draft version that still has English in it, when I told it the entire document is in French. It suddenly forgets that "and" is a perfectly good word, and insists that "the" should have an accent mark in it. And I won't get into what it does with punctuation.

For large parts of the afternoon, I forgot it was Sunday.

Sometime this week I have to do laundry, and I still have a housecleaning list from three or so weeks ago to kill off. I can't wait until it gets warm enough out to leave the windows open. (Only two or three more months...) At least the days are getting noticeably longer and the ice is mostly melting.

Does anybody who reads this have any experience ordering jeans from either Land's End or LL Bean? I think I'm going to try them, since the last time I tried buying jeans in a mall, I struck out all over the place. Apparently my waist is too small for my hips and my backside, and I'm too short in general. Back to the old litany, I guess. I can wear regular sizes if I grow four inches and petite sizes if I lose twenty pounds. (I need to do that anyway, but that's a different problem.)

If I don't go to bed, I'm going to be asleep a lot longer than I want to be tomorrow morning.
