Except for the fact that nature has no sense of humor, I'd say the weather today is a joke. It's 38 degrees and pouring rain, when it isn't colder than that and therefore pouring freezing rain.

I think for once I'm ahead of the game a little, because last night I did the tweaking of this week's draft translation so I can turn it in next week as a final translation, and I also did next week's draft. Now all I have to do is read a couple of plays and do about seven more journal entries before next Tuesday.

The grocery store is starting to show signs of hope for their produce section. Asparagus and strawberries and zucchini were all on sale today. I had the strawberries for lunch, and now I'm debating whether I want Memere soup (which is a can of crushed tomatoes and a can of mixed vegetables and some alphabet noodles, as made by my grandmother) and plain zucchini, or whether I want to make minestrone and put the zucchini in it. In any case, it's a definite soup day.

I've discovered seltzer. I was generally indifferent to it before, but I'm drinking a lot of it lately. It's cheap, and it's not as boring as plain water. And it doesn't have umpteen tons of sugar in it. Part of the diet I'm trying to get myself on involves just plain eating less of everything, and if I absolutely can't talk myself out of consuming a lot of something, making sure that whatever the something is has as few calories as possible. So I drink a lot of seltzer, as opposed to a lot of soda or a lot of milk or a lot of anything else with calories I don't really need. Does it work? I don't know, yet. Ask me in July.
