Jul. 23rd, 2004 12:31 pmI got a lease renewal today. Which I was more or less expecting, but had pushed into the back of my brain to let more immediate things get dealt with. My rent is going up $5 per month, whee. But what really annoys me is the fact that the paperwork is dated July 8, and they couldn't be bothered to give it to me (all of a three-minute walk, if that) until now. At least it says I have to return it within 15 days of receipt, not within 15 days of the date on the thing. I bet somebody looked at it this morning and said Whoops, July 8 was 15 days ago, wasn't it? And these are the people who didn't fix my faucet for months, and who expect my rent promptly on the first of every month.
On a more cheerful note, the weather is behaving itself much more today. It's only 70-something, and there's a breeze. I opened the windows again.
Last night I finishedThe Birth of Venus, by Sarah Dunant. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I think it's pretty good besides. I recommend it to anybody who likes Renaissance Italian art and/or female characters with brains.
My parents and my sister are all on vacation at the Cape next week. I wish I was going to be there too. Actually, I wish it was the end of August already so I could go back to doing what I came out here for in the first place. In the meantime, I really should start making a list of things not to forget between now and August 6.
Shock of shocks, I did find phyllo in the grocery store yesterday, so today I'm making spinach pie. I wish there was a way to get the flavor of onion in things without using actual onions. I hate onions, but sometimes they're necessary.
