Jul. 24th, 2004 04:54 pmThere's nothing quite so satisfying as throwing away a $1900 invoice unpaid. (My scholarship kicked in, and I called the Bursar's office yesterday so I could be sure I could throw out the invoice. If I wind up getting a federal loan besides, that'll let me start paying my parents back, so I'll only owe the government when I graduate. I really shouldn't spend money before I've got it, but it's nice to dream about doing it.)
I'm debating whether going to the movies twice in three weeks should be considered an unnecessary expense. I want to see The Bourne Supremacy, and I've got the money from selling those books, and the movie only costs $7. Half of me says it's mad money and I can do whatever I bloody well want with it, and the other half is saying I should save it for traveling, because traveling is always more expensive than I plan for. The shuttle service to the airport is going to cost $45 before tip. What's the standard rate for tipping drivers? Is it the same as in restaurants?
The spinach pie came out halfway decent, although the phyllo on the leftovers suffered a bit from being refrigerated. Lesson learned: make less of it next time, or make it in smaller increments and freeze some of them. Since I now have peaches I'm trying to use up, my brain keeps trying to convince me I want to do something with those involving phyllo and spices and such. My brain seems to have gone Dessert Circus on me. Silly brain.
I suppose I should pay bills so I can throw them in the mail on Monday and forget about them.
