I posted a comment elsewhere that made me think I should post this here and see if anyone agrees with me. I think it could very easily apply to the US today, even though it was written by Kipling in 1909.

gleep!

I checked my e-mail and found in it a message from a translation company I'd talked to at the ATA meeting. They sent me a couple of sample texts to translate so they can get an idea of whether they want to hire me to freelance for them or not. Which is wonderful, but there are two catches to it:

1. The "general" text they sent me is legal, although it's short, and the medical text is considerably longer. Either way, I have to go hunt up a couple of dictionaries I hope the library has.

2. They want both translations back by 2 PM tomorrow. GLEEP!

I've got first drafts of both done, and now I have to go off to the library to hunt down terminology for those, and terminology for the liquid crystals text due tomorrow. Then I have to go to the computer lab, finish the midterm due Wednesday (or at least put a severe dent in what's left of it), go to karate (unless the above doesn't take me four hours, and then I can come home first), come home and retype the liquid crystals text, do the composition exercises due Thursday, and start thinking about writing the composition due Thursday. Gonna be a long night. See, this is why I can't take a whole weekend and do nothing, which is basically what I did.

I think I need caffeine and jet-propelled roller skates.
