how it went
Sep. 4th, 2006 07:51 pmSo, my grandfather turned 90 this weekend, and there was a party on Saturday. I hope he had some idea what it was for. That part of it was sad, but the whole "seeing relatives I haven't seen in years" thing was good. I think if I had kept talking, I could have gotten my cousin P to join the ATA. He was into Russian before life happened to him in a rather severe fashion about six years ago.
On Sunday we ended up doing a lot of not much, except decompressing from Saturday, reading books and getting rained on.
Today, since Mom had to work, Dad and I went sailing. It mostly worked out, even though I hadn't been sailing in years and had never been the only crew before. I ended up with a palm full of fiberglass splinters from picking up the mooring buoy, but we did get out and back again and nobody (including the jib when I took it down) fell overboard and the engine, which is refusing to pump water for some reason, didn't overheat.
It was a pretty good weekend; we should do it again without the sad parts, though.
Completely unrelated to anything else, I propose a new internet acronym: LDFHO (Laughing Damn Fool Head Off).
