It was a good weekend, but too damn short, as usual for weekends these days. I went to CT on the train on Friday night (I skipped out, with permission, on cleaning up after the Friday night committee meeting), and spent most of the weekend having fun with various sides of the family. On Sunday my father's younger sisters and most of their families came down to have lasagna with us, and J&J brought their dog (black lab/boxer cross), so we all got a dog fix and Murphy got to clean the plates.

My parents traded in the Saab and bought a Prius. Nifty machine, but very odd. My mother is still trying to get used to Park being a separate button instead of being on the actual shifter, and turning the car off by pushing the Power button. (I think that's odd too, but that's just me.) They got something like 157 miles out of the first half tank of gas, but considering that it's an 11-gallon tank, that's not bad. (They got about the same from a half-tank in the Saab, which had a 17-gallon tank.)

I'm still trying to figure out this "going to the gym" thing. If I go at lunchtime, I only get about half an hour of actual time to do things, but there are fewer people around and I feel less silly. If I go after work, I have to stand in line, but I have more time to devote to it then. (Going before work is not an option I'm interested in. I like the current pace of my mornings.)

In any case, no gym today, because I'm leaving work early to go to the regular eye doctor (as opposed to the retina eye doctor). Which is fine, because I was planning to give myself Tuesdays off anyway.

Now all I have to do is figure out when I'm going to get around to doing laundry. It would've been last night, but I was out of coffee, so I had to do something about that after work. If I'm going to do laundry, I have to come straight home and go straight back out again, since the laundromat closes at 8:00 and I can't generally get there before about 6:00.

While it is good that I have a new prescription for contacts, and good that I don't have retina problems this time, it is somewhat of a pain in the neck to have things to do that require good eyesight and to have to wait for the dilating drops to wear off before I can do them. It's only been most of five hours now.
