It was a good weekend, but too damn short, as usual for weekends these days. I went to CT on the train on Friday night (I skipped out, with permission, on cleaning up after the Friday night committee meeting), and spent most of the weekend having fun with various sides of the family. On Sunday my father's younger sisters and most of their families came down to have lasagna with us, and J&J brought their dog (black lab/boxer cross), so we all got a dog fix and Murphy got to clean the plates.

My parents traded in the Saab and bought a Prius. Nifty machine, but very odd. My mother is still trying to get used to Park being a separate button instead of being on the actual shifter, and turning the car off by pushing the Power button. (I think that's odd too, but that's just me.) They got something like 157 miles out of the first half tank of gas, but considering that it's an 11-gallon tank, that's not bad. (They got about the same from a half-tank in the Saab, which had a 17-gallon tank.)

I'm still trying to figure out this "going to the gym" thing. If I go at lunchtime, I only get about half an hour of actual time to do things, but there are fewer people around and I feel less silly. If I go after work, I have to stand in line, but I have more time to devote to it then. (Going before work is not an option I'm interested in. I like the current pace of my mornings.)

In any case, no gym today, because I'm leaving work early to go to the regular eye doctor (as opposed to the retina eye doctor). Which is fine, because I was planning to give myself Tuesdays off anyway.

Now all I have to do is figure out when I'm going to get around to doing laundry. It would've been last night, but I was out of coffee, so I had to do something about that after work. If I'm going to do laundry, I have to come straight home and go straight back out again, since the laundromat closes at 8:00 and I can't generally get there before about 6:00.

I might be able to do something for you about the laundry situation. I don't have firm plans yet tonight, though I am supposed to see Juliruge. Tomorrow night doesn't have plans at all since we cancelled meeting with the financial advisor because our taxes aren't finished. So at the very worst, I could come pick you up tomorrow evening and give you a lift to my place or the laudrymat to do laundry. Hell, If you want to come to my place, I'll even make one of my tasty and healthy fish/rice/veggy steamers.

I don't have any plans today, because I think I'm probably going to get my eyes dilated again. It might be fun to go to the laundromat like that, though; it certainly does startle people...

Tomorrow being Wednesday, my only plan involves the Mythbusters.

There could be Mythbusters involved....especially since we tend to watch that on Wednesdays anyways and we can set up the DVD player to record Crossing Jordan if needed. (Yes, that would be my other addiction and I'm very into the current plotline because I want to see whether they are trying to boost their ratings to avoid the show getting killed or if they are intentionally going to kill the show by killing the main character.)

Mythbusters is probably a rerun. They've been doing a lot of that lately.

So, tomorrow, then?

Tomorrow. What time do you want me to come pick you up? I get home around 6 so the earliest I am likely to make it to your place is 6:30. Is that okay? If not I can try to arrange things so I can bring the car to work, then I wouldn't have to return to Quincy to pick it up before coming to get you...

I get home about 5:30, so any time after that. I wouldn't try taking the car to work tomorrow, because the Red Sox are playing at Fenway tomorrow and the traffic around the medical area gets to be a mess. It's probably easier for you to go home and get the car first.

By the way, I asked our mortgage guy about who h'd recommend for refinancing or consolidating student loans. He said the best are DCU and Citizens.

I dunno what kind of driving they're doing, but that sounds kinda low for 5.5 gallons of gas in a Prius. I can get 205 miles out of 6.5 gallons in my VW. I'm sure they'll/it'll get used to each other. :)

My father weighs considerably more than you do, so I bet the car has to use more energy to transport him. (Not that that accounts for all of the difference, since my parents are still learning how to drive the Prius, but it would surprise me if that didn't have at least a little to do with it.)
