PSA: If you're trying to go anywhere in Brighton via Union St., come down it from Monastery instead of up it from Chestnut Hill Ave, unless you like getting stuck going up an icy hill.

Last night on my way home, I observed that everything wet was going to freeze solid if it hadn't already. What I didn't realize is that although they might have plowed it when it was actually snowing two nights ago, nobody ever sanded or salted Union St. That created a slick spot in the road two doors up from me, and I got the Loss of Traction Chorus all night as people coming up the hill hit that spot.

This morning the entirety of the hill end of the street had most of an inch of black ice on it, and I don't expect that state of affairs to change any time soon. I managed not to slip, but doing the ice walk across a street up and down which people tend to travel at 40 mph made me nervous.
