weather-related and other observations
Jun. 13th, 2008 02:14 pmOpen-window weather is lovely, but it does mean that I get to learn things about my neighbors. The young guy on the second floor on the Nantasket St. side plays the trumpet (and is pretty good at it, too), and the tenant on the Monastery Rd. side is deaf, drunk or both (based solely on how his voice sounds at full volume), and a sports fan. I found out at 6:00 this morning that the Celtics won last night.
I sing, and I watch too much TV, and I talk to my cat. I'm sure my neighbors know that by now.
This hasn't been my favorite week at work ever, but at least there are only another two and a half hours of it. It's performance evaluation season, and this year it's worse because my boss is on leave, so I get to do this with the office manager instead. Between my leftover trauma where she's concerned and the fact that I don't actually work with her that often, I'm not looking forward to it much. (It will probably go just fine, but is there anybody anywhere who likes the performance evaluation process?)
Topping the list for the weekend is to finally get some writing done, immediately followed (priority-wise) by a moderately large cleaning fit. Pretty much everything else is negotiable. Maybe I'll go see if I can afford to buy myself a hammock stand as an early birthday present. I know I can afford to buy a hammock, but I don't think I can set it up on the porch without a stand.
If I really do get to take the week of August 11 off, I've only got eight more weeks until vacation. I can do that.
