So, it was a long weekend, thank goodness. Apparently a lot of the things that were driving me crazy on Friday merely required to be left alone for three days, because I came back to three emails that sorted everything out.

On top of which, it was a good weekend. I didn't do a whole lot on Saturday, and went down to the Deschenes family gathering on Sunday, wherein I saw all my aunts and uncles and several of my cousins, and a good time was had by all. (And I, of course, forgot about the two pounds of hamburger I had gone out and bought the minute I got there, so it's sitting in my parents' freezer until next week.)

Yesterday I got all domestic and bought half of the ingredients for soup, and made stuffed acorn squash, which is the only way I like any sort of winter squash. I went slightly overboard with the sour cream, so it looks like something I won't mention, but it tastes good. I seem to have come to an understanding with my oven; if I want 350, I set it for 375 and ignore it until 15 minutes after it thinks it's hot enough. Now that I know that, I can make mushroom and smoked garlic-cheddar quiche for the My, How You've Grown Festival next Saturday.

I also cut the nails on three of the four feline feet that needed it. The fourth is going to require some being sneaky on my part.

And so, having disposed of the monster (or at least three fourths of it), exit our hero through the front door, stage right.

I closed all the storm windows tonight. It's too damn cold at night to leave them open.

I'm in mourning for the summer we didn't get.
