art, intentional and serendipitous
Jun. 4th, 2011 05:02 pmLast night I finally finished page 7 of the Golden Wood embroidery pattern. This thing is going to be gorgeous when it's done, but sometimes it's a serious slog. Page 7 took me several months, partly because I took a break for a while and partly because it naturally broke into 2/3 and 1/3 sections. The 2/3 section was mostly mustard/gold/orange, and I got tired of the same colors over and over. The 1/3 section had a lot of different colors in it. So, onward and leftward (the pattern is laid out right to left).
I was waiting to meet somebody in Coolidge Corner this morning, and thought I'd go sit down on the Devotion School lawn and read the book I'd just bought. Only there was an art festival happening all over the lawn, hence there was no sitting down to be had. There were, however, a lot of people selling a lot of very pretty things (as I found out when I met up with the person I was waiting for, and we wandered through the art festival). If I'd had an unlimited budget, I would've bought several framed photographs and a carved wooden jar and at least one pair of earrings and some pottery. As it was, I bought a bag. (I have a bit of a thing about bags. I'm usually satisfied with looking, but I came back to this artist three times, after which I decided I should just buy the damn bag and get it over with.)
Off to feed the cats and then find out if the book I still haven't started reading is any good.
