Oct. 4th, 2011 01:34 pmLast night I went to bed early, with a headache. It wasn't a migraine, but it was enough of a headache to annoy me. This morning it was still there. I hate that. I'm blaming it on the weather, although I haven't historically been weather-sensitive like that. I know there was a thunderstorm last night, because the Hairy Beasts woke me up once abandoning ship, and the thunder woke me up a second time.
Today is P&R materials day, I hope. I really want to get it over with. For some reason, this month, not knowing exactly when the late night is going to be is annoying me. Possibly because I've got things I want to get done at home, and none of them are urgent, but it would be nice to know when exactly I'm not going to be able to do them. The fact that it's getting dark earlier doesn't really help either.
I remembered Columbus Day! Usually I don't remember it's a three-day weekend until somebody says "But we have to do this now because we can't do it on Monday." I guess I had better get used to it, because it's three-day weekend season again. (Not that it's a bad thing to have one every month between September and February, but it's a bit of a shock in March when it stops.)
I sent my old laptop off through the Apple recycling program, and in return I got a $293 gift card. I have no idea what I want to do with it. I'll probably buy software, because I don't need any more hardware. If I had Parallels, I could run Windows, if I had Windows. (I don't want to run Windows, but I sort of hope I might have to, someday.)
(Later)
Lovely. We are now in the "hurry up and wait" stage of P&R materials day, to wit: We have all the files we think are going on this month's agendas, and now we're waiting for the department reps to get back to us about whether they can come to the meetings or not and if so when. When we know that, we'll have an agenda order, and we can number all the files and assign reviewers and start posting materials to the intranet and creating the online votesheets. But none of that can happen until we have an agenda order. Which means it might not happen today at all, unless I get stubborn about it and stay at work STUPID late getting it all dealt with.
At least the sun is out once in a while.
